Local Port Macquarie Hotel returns to grass-roots values

Press Release 26.07.17

The iconic Port Macquarie Hotel is this week updating its weekend entertainment offering to provide better options for those looking for a friendly night out.

This represents the first step in a complimentary alignment to the vision of the local Council and their ongoing construction of the adjacent Town Square and Town Green – providing a transformed and centrally located green space and increased amenities for the local community to enjoy.

Venue Manager Phil McGrath said that as of this weekend, locals can expect to enjoy the acoustic sounds of talented local artists in the space previously dominated by a DJ.

“For some time, we’ve been planning to update the entertainment offerings of The Macca to be better aligned with the values of the broader community, with ongoing refurbishments commencing in the next few weeks.

“In particular, we’re very excited about the resurrection of the historic art décor signage, which will be restored to its former glory and will proudly illuminate the Hotel,” he said.

“Basically, the Hotel is returning to a more traditional local pub with a focus on good quality food and accommodation and friendly space to enjoy weekend sport,” Mr McGrath finished.

This weekend’s acoustic entertainment will be kicked off with local and talented musician Andrew Cousins on Friday night at 9pm.

About Port Macquarie Hotel

The Port Macquarie Hotel is the area’s most iconic and longstanding pub. Established in 1939, “The Macca”, as it is affectionately known, sits in the heart of Port Macquarie just a stone’s throw away from the beautiful Hastings River.

Popular with locals and visitors alike, The Macca features a bistro serving quality and reasonably priced foods, ranging from light snacks to full meals; public bars boasting state-of-the-art TAB facilities, large screens (great for when major sporting events are on!), a rugby bar dedicated to lovers of the sport; and a drive-through bottle shop.

The hotel also provides pub-style accommodation upstairs, with 16 comfortable single, double, twin or triple rooms.
